Born in 1969 in Iguariden, in the Maâtkas region of Kabylia, Ali Amran is a demanding singer-songwriter. His first songs were performed by Lani Rabah before he recorded on his own, in 1994, Adu (The Wind), ranked among the best rock tracks on Algerian national radio. His first solo album Amsebrid (The Drifter) came out in 1998. Based in Paris since 2000, he keeps writing a poetic body of work that questions exile, memory, and Amazigh identity, never turning his back on his native village in the Maâtkas.
